Better Streets MKE, Vol. 24
We've been on hiatus for some time due to various life happenings amongst the authors. In part, we are back because there is a feeling of a lull in some parts of Milwaukee's safe streets advocacy community.
We would like to invite people to (re)connect with one another and encourage people to attend one of the upcoming project meetings or other events. Keeping up the positive drumbeat of support for safe streets projects will help ensure these things come to fruition.
Upcoming Events and Input Opportunities
The City of Milwaukee is developing its first citywide Transportation and Mobility Plan, which will guide how we design, operate, maintain, and invest in our streets. 414 in Motion: The City of Milwaukee’s Transportation & Mobility Plan will become part of the City's Comprehensive Plan upon its completion and will replace the Citywide Policy Plan’s Transportation Chapter.
The City has been conducting a lot of outreach in various formats about this plan. Check out the open house dates below!

The preferred alternative is planned to be unveiled for the huge project to reconstruct 2.6 miles of 6th Street from North Avenue to National Avenue. The city completed a recent round of public input meetings on this project, but the comment form/survey is still live here. For more information, see the project page.
Lisbon Avenue Corridor Plan
The Department of City Development, in close partnership with Rooted & Rising, is launching the Lisbon Avenue Corridor Plan in the Washington Park neighborhood. The plan area focuses on Lisbon Avenue, between 27th and 46th Street, and will make recommendations related to land use, redevelopment, multimodal transportation, public spaces and economic development. Visit the project website to share your feedback.
